Rice
is the most widely used staple food in parts of Asia. Rice is basically the
seed of Oryza sativa, a
grass. This seed is generally white and brown in color and with slender shape. Rice rubber polisher is an annual and monocot plant. Annual plants are those plants which completes
their whole life cycle in one year. Cultivation of rice is not tough but high
rainfall and humid climate is required. Places not receiving high rainfall are
still into rice cultivation by maintaining proper level of water required to
the field and crops as well.
When
it comes to world rice production India is the second largest producer of rice with
157.2 Millions of tons and China tops the chart with 2O6 million tons. Major rice
production are from the states, Bihar, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal,
Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.
Some
of the famous rice varieties are Basmati and PUSA 1121. Famous because
of its aroma and long grains. India is the largest producer and exporter as
well of basmati. World’s 7O% of production of basmati is from India. This
variety is grown in states like Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Bihar, Uttrakhand,
Delhi and Haryana. Haryana is the largest producer
contributing 6O% to the production. PUSA 1121 is a sub variety of basmati only.
Just like basmati this variety is aromatic too. PUSA 1121 is really prominent
among farmers because of easy cultivation and early maturation. Other varieties
include Mota, Usna and paddy.
SUMMARY : India is the second largest
producer of rice rubber polisher. States like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, Punjab,
Haryana etc. contribute greatly to the production. Rice cultivation is not
tough except the water requirement. Water required is really high therefore
they are cultivated in places receiving high rainfall. But it is now cultivated
almost everywhere by keeping the water requirements to the mark.
